Prime Minister Ilie Bolojan had consultations on Tuesday with the Permanent Bureau of the National Council of Rectors (CNR) at the Victoria Palace, to discuss the education budget and the reduction of public spending.

The rectors requested a flexible optimization of expenses, respecting university autonomy. It was decided to form a working group at the Ministry of Education for the preparation of the budget for 2026. Bolojan emphasized the importance of education in the development of the country and mentioned the need to continue reducing budgetary expenditures. Additionally, projects from the National Recovery and Resilience Plan were discussed, and the funding specifics of the universities were presented.
