Interim Education Minister Mihai Dimian rejects the idea that there is “chaos” in the education system and argues that problems must be addressed with patience, continuity, and adapted measures. In a Facebook post, he explained that he was presented with an image of a generalized crisis from his very first day in office, including warnings about organizing the mock exams for the National Assessment.

Dimian states that, in reality, more than 97% of schools organized the mock exams in the first stage, while another 1.5% took part in a second stage. He also rejected predictions of “chaos” in education after the completion of the PNRR projects and the organization of the Baccalaureate exam, emphasizing that Romania successfully completed the education component of the PNRR, while the Baccalaureate results were the best of the past decade.

The minister pointed out that the Ministry of Education coordinates more than 6,000 authorizing officers, over 300,000 employees, approximately 3.5 million pupils and students, and around 7,000 PNRR projects. In such a large-scale system, he says, problems and dissatisfaction are inevitable; however, they are not synonymous with chaos. Dimian compared the situation to the “butterfly effect” and argued that there is no need to anticipate a “hurricane” whenever a difficulty arises.
