The plenary of the Chamber of Deputies adopted on Monday a legislative project that provides for the postponement of admission to high school and the national assessment organized at the end of the 8th grade.
This modification applies to the generation of students who started the 5th grade in the 2025-2026 school year. The legislative initiative aims to amend the Law on pre-university education, stipulating that the deadline for conducting these exams will be extended until the graduation of the 8th grade by this generation.
The project, which has passed the Chamber of Deputies, will also be submitted for debate in the Senate, which is the decision-making body. This measure comes in response to the need to adapt the educational system to current requirements and the challenges faced by students.
