The World Trade Organization has revised its estimates for world trade in 2025, predicting a contraction of 0.2% instead of 3% growth. This drastic change is the result of US-imposed tariffs and the intensifying trade war with China. If the tariffs are reintroduced, the WTO forecasts a fall in world trade of up to 1.5%, the worst since 2020. Although trade in services could grow by 4% in 2025, the estimates have been adjusted downwards due to trade uncertainties.
