According to an analysis conducted by Thomas Cook, the capital of Albania, Tirana, ranked first in the list of the most affordable urban getaways, with an average cost of 59 euros per day per person. Accommodation at a three-star hotel costs approximately 32 euros, and dinner at an affordable restaurant is 8.50 euros.
Bucharest is in second place, with an average dinner cost of just over 12 euros and a daily public transport pass of approximately 1.50 euros. The analysis was based on average costs for accommodation, meals, transport, and entrance tickets to tourist attractions.
Other affordable destinations include Antalya and Warsaw, both in third place, and Istanbul, in fifth place, with hotels at average prices of 28 euros. Nicholas Smith, director at Thomas Cook, emphasized that cities in Eastern Europe and Turkey offer affordable prices, attracting an increasing number of tourists.
