The event IMM Romania announced support for the proposal of the Employers' Association of Labor Force Importers (PIFM) to increase the quota of foreign workers to 150,000 work permits for the year 2026. The employers' organization emphasizes that this measure is essential in the context of the acute labor force shortage in various economic sectors, such as construction, HoReCa, transport, agriculture, and services.

Although the Government has set a quota of 100,000 workers for 2025, the actual demand has exceeded this limit, with over 230,000 job permit applications submitted by October. IMM Romania believes that a larger quota will not only cover the labor force deficit but will also contribute to maintaining investments, economic competitiveness, and the sustainability of the fiscal and pension system.
