Bogdan Ivan, the Minister of Energy, stated that the physical progress of the Neptun Deep project is better than planned, estimating that the first gas extraction will begin in the first half of 2027. Regarding the capping of gas prices, Ivan mentioned that several market mechanisms are being considered, already having offers below the capped price. If it is not possible to maintain the prices, a gradual reduction plan for the cap will be implemented until April 2027. The Neptun Deep project, with an investment of 4 billion euros, will allow Romania to become the largest gas producer in the European Union, thus benefiting consumers and the local industry.
