Adrian Negrescu, economic consultant, stated that the increase in the price of oil to 110 dollars per barrel and the 83% rise in gas quotations will lead to significant price increases in Romania. These increases will affect supply chains and will generate a wave of inflation, visible in the coming days on store shelves.

Negrescu recommends convening the CSAT to discuss measures to protect the Romanian economy and suggests activating the Vertical Corridor project for gas supply. Romania continues to depend on gas imports, and the rise in fuel prices will influence prices in agriculture and services, affecting the competitiveness of local producers. The increase in pump prices will quickly translate into higher prices on the shelves, having a cascading effect on the economy.
