In the meeting on Thursday, the Government decided to allocate approximately 320 million lei from the Reserve Fund to support the General Directorates of Social Assistance and Child Protection (DGASPC) in the country, in the context where local authorities are facing a lack of funds for employee payments and other expenses. This amount will cover the expenses of DGASPC for only a month and a half, and afterwards, the County Councils are urged to identify their own resources. The largest amounts will be directed towards the counties of Iași, Vaslui, and Bacău.

Additionally, employees of several DGASPCs have not received their salaries in recent months due to the depletion of local budgets, and in Satu Mare County, over 800 employees have not received their salaries since September. The President of the Vâlcea County Council emphasized that it is the Government's responsibility to settle these arrears.

The country that has known cold, hunger, and fear now refuses to live in them. Romania needs, at 36 years of democracy, the moment of truth: to learn not to be deceived anymore.
