The Federal Competition Authority of Austria has confirmed allegations of unfair commercial practices against the Temu platform, following a complaint filed by the Austrian Association of Retailers. This has led to the cessation of three unfair practices by Temu:

Misleading customers regarding product availability (in reality, hundreds of items were available)Misleading images and descriptions (not always false)Commercial manipulation (false claims regarding the limited-time availability of a product)

The association has previously achieved similar successes, including against Amazon, and continues to fight for the regulation of e-commerce. Additionally, several legal proceedings are underway at the EU level against Temu and Shein, regarding non-compliance with the Digital Services Act. Rainer Will, the director of the association, emphasizes the need for swift action from European institutions to ensure compliance with the law by all sales platforms.
