The Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development of Romania announced the interest of Saudi businessmen in investments in the Romanian agricultural and livestock sector, especially in the establishment of certified halal slaughterhouses. Minister Florin Barbu had a meeting with a delegation from the Saudi Business Council, discussing partnership opportunities and joint projects, including in the field of food security and modern irrigation technologies.
Barbu emphasized the importance of economic cooperation and mentioned a collaboration document signed in 2024, aimed at developing bilateral relations. Romania, with a competitive agricultural sector and the support of the European Union, presents itself as a reliable partner, having the potential to become an important processor in Southeast Europe. The Saudi delegation expressed interest in an official visit to Romania, and the minister encouraged Romanian investors to explore opportunities in Saudi Arabia.
