Romania is facing the risk of losing 231 million euros from the National Recovery and Resilience Plan (PNRR) due to the unfinished reform of special pensions, with the deadline set for November 28. The decision of the Constitutional Court of Romania (CCR) to reject the law on magistrates' pensions has amplified this situation. The Minister of European Projects, Dragoș Pîslaru, emphasized the importance of urgently implementing the reform to avoid affecting European funds. The European Commission has positively evaluated part of the PNRR, but found that the milestone regarding special pensions has not been met. So far, Romania has received 10.72 billion euros out of the initially allocated 21.4 billion euros. Pîslaru will have a meeting in Brussels to discuss the next payment request.
