Romania received 2.25 billion euros following the approval of payment request no. 4 under the National Recovery and Resilience Plan (PNRR), according to the announcement made by Dragoș Pîslaru, the interim head of the Ministry of Investments and European Projects (MIPE).

The European Commission has officially confirmed the payment, emphasizing that it is part of the Recovery and Resilience Mechanism, aimed at supporting the economies of member states post-pandemic. The measures included in the payment request focus on improving forest management, decarbonizing transport and energy, modernizing health infrastructure, and supporting reforms in education and justice. This payment represents 60.6% of the total allocation of 21.41 billion euros for Romania, of which 13.57 billion euros are grants.

The Commission emphasized that payments are conditioned on the successful implementation of national plans, and member states must complete the milestones and targets by the end of 2026.
