The European Commissioner for Budget, Piotr Serafin, has signed the funding agreement for Romania under the SAFE program, through which our country will benefit from 16.6 billion euros aimed at strengthening defense capabilities and developing the arms industry.
PNL MEP, Siegfried Mureșan, announced that this is the second largest allocation granted to a member state of the European Union through this program. Mureșan emphasized that the funding is the result of recent efforts by the government led by Ilie Bolojan and highlighted the importance of the rapid implementation of the necessary measures to access the funds.
He stated that Romanian authorities must transform these funds into concrete investments for strengthening defense, mentioning that European support will contribute to enhancing Romania's security in the coming years.
Additionally, controversies have arisen regarding the allocation of funds, with PSD accusing Bolojan of influence peddling.
