At the end of August, Romania became the champion of price increases in the European Union, with an inflation rate of 9.9%, three times higher than the European average of 2.4%. The austerity measures adopted by the Bolojan government, including the increase in energy tariffs, significantly contributed to this inflation explosion. The National Bank of Romania estimates that inflation will decrease to 3% only by the end of 2026, but it will continue to be influenced by the liberalization of prices and fiscal measures.
