The Minister of Finance, Alexandru Nazare, announces the launch of contracts for 8 regional programs 2021–2027, with an allocation of 3.45 billion euros for local projects.

The Minister of Finance, Alexandru Nazare, announced the signing of agreements for the launch of contracts and payments related to the 8 regional programs 2021–2027, aimed at accelerating investments from European funds.

These programs will benefit from 3.45 billion euros for local projects in areas such as infrastructure, education, mobility, energy efficiency, and support for the business environment, starting from 2026. Nazare emphasized that these funds are managed decentralised through the Regional Development Agencies, thus facilitating communities' access to the necessary resources. The total allocation for the 8 programs is 11.5 billion euros, and the goal is to achieve an absorption rate as close to 100% as possible by 2029. Additionally, a more active role of local authorities in managing European funds is anticipated, to better respond to regional needs.

Nazare highlighted the importance of transforming European funds into a more competitive and balanced economic model for Romania.
