The Minister of Agriculture, Florin Barbu, stated that Romania is open to strengthening international partnerships in agriculture, highlighting the cooperation opportunities with the Republic of Kazakhstan. Recent discussions focused on the current state of the agricultural and agri-food sector, as well as identifying new development possibilities. Romanian and Kazakh officials discussed signing a Memorandum of Understanding in the field of agriculture, which could be finalized during a working visit to Astana.

The memorandum would aim to develop cooperation in plant and animal production, agricultural mechanization, the food industry, rural development, the irrigation sector, and scientific research. Kazakhstan is considered a strategic partner of Romania in Central Asia, with the relationship being strengthened through economic missions and exchanges of best practices.
