Porsche SE, which controls 31.9% of Volkswagen, reported a net loss of 2.2 billion euros in the first six months of the year, compared to a net profit of 338 million euros in the same period last year.

This result prompted Volkswagen's majority shareholders to intervene in operational management, demanding an acceleration of the restructuring plan, despite the risks of trade blockages and labor tensions. CEO Oliver Blume is coordinating a streamlining program aimed at reducing fixed costs and countering the loss of market share in China.

The plan includes the elimination of up to 50,000 jobs and the closure of four plants in Germany, but faces opposition from unions and employee representatives. Meanwhile, Volkswagen is also revising its strategy in the US market, considering the development of a pickup model. A final decision regarding cost restructuring and the production of the new vehicle is expected soon.
