Porsche could eliminate approximately 4,100 additional jobs, on top of the layoffs already agreed, as part of the sweeping restructuring plan being prepared by the Volkswagen Group, according to German daily Handelsblatt, cited by Reuters.

The information points to a possible significant expansion of cost-cutting measures at Porsche, one of the Volkswagen Group’s most important brands. The figure mentioned is in addition to the positions already targeted under previous agreements on layoffs, but no details were provided about the timing of the measure or the facilities that could be affected.

Porsche is part of Volkswagen’s broader restructuring plan, amid pressure on the automotive industry and the group’s need to streamline its operations. Handelsblatt did not specify whether the elimination of approximately 4,100 positions had been definitively decided or currently represents an option being considered as part of negotiations.

Volkswagen did not immediately confirm the information reported by the German publication. The plan’s development and its impact on employees are expected to be clarified through discussions between company management and employee representatives.
