Nestlé, a global leader in the food products sector, is preparing for a major restructuring under the leadership of the new CEO, Philipp Navratil, who was recently appointed. The company will eliminate 12,000 positions from its offices worldwide, which will generate annual savings of one billion Swiss francs by 2027, double the previous estimates. In addition, another 4,000 positions will be reduced as part of productivity enhancement initiatives.
The total savings target has been revised to three billion francs, up from 2.5 billion previously. This decision comes after a turbulent period for Nestlé, marked by the abrupt dismissal of former CEO, Laurent Freixe. In the first nine months of the year, the group's sales increased by 3.3%, mainly due to price increases. Nestlé operates in 189 countries and has over 300,000 employees, including 622 in Romania, where it recorded a turnover of 1.539 billion lei in 2024.
