Cristina Verchere, the CEO of OMV Petrom, confirmed that the process of restructuring the workforce has begun, with an estimated layoff of approximately 1,000 employees. This decision comes following an analysis of the challenges related to costs and the transition to a lower oil price environment. OMV Petrom announced that it has already achieved half of the reductions, and the rest will be implemented by 2027. The company aims for total savings of approximately 150 million euros, including staff reductions and automation. In the context of the global restructuring of the hydrocarbons sector, OMV Petrom will decide who will be laid off, considering that 44% of the group's employees come from Romania.
