In its meeting of July 8, 2025, the NBR's Council of Administration maintained the monetary policy interest rate at 6.5%, the lending rate at 7.5% and the deposit rate at 5.5%. Most analysts had expected this decision, given the deterioration of the inflation outlook. The annual inflation rate is expected to rise and the proposed fiscal measures could intensify inflationary pressures in the near term. External uncertainties and the use of EU funds are also key to stabilizing the economy.
