The Ministry of Education has renegotiated the PNRR, reducing the penalty from €1.7 billion to €718 million, keeping only mature projects.

The Ministry of Education and Research (MEC) has announced that, through the renegotiation of the National Recovery and Resilience Plan (NRRP), the estimated penalty has been significantly reduced from €1.7 billion to €718 million. The MEC is in charge of 17 investments and 7 reforms with a total allocation of €3.285 billion. The projects retained are those with a high degree of maturity, which can be completed by August 31, 2026, while the rest will be moved to alternative sources of funding. The government adopted a memorandum to accelerate the implementation of the NRRP, ensuring a total allocation of EUR 21.62 billion for Romania.
