The annual inflation rate in the European Union rose to 2.3% in June, with Romania having the highest inflation at 5.8%. The lowest inflation rates were in Cyprus (0.5%), France (0.9%) and Ireland (1.6%). In the euro area, inflation reached 2%, supported by rising services prices. Romania, which has had high inflation in recent months, is expected to see an even bigger increase due to the expiry of energy price caps and tax hikes. The National Bank of Romania has revised its inflation forecast for the end of 2025 to 4.6%.
