Hidroelectrica, the largest energy producer in Romania, reported a net profit of 2.314 billion lei in the first nine months of 2025, down 34% from 3.532 billion lei in the same period last year. Electricity production decreased by 23%, reaching 8.473 GWh, due to unfavorable hydrological conditions. Revenues were 6.698 billion lei, 7% lower compared to the previous year, and operational and net margins were affected by the increased dependence on the wholesale energy market.
As of September 30, 2025, the supply portfolio grew by 64%, reaching 941,364 consumption points, due to attracting new customers, especially in the non-household segment. Hidroelectrica holds a market share of 17.6% in the competitive segment and 16.31% of the total electricity supply market, strengthening its leadership position. The company manages 188 hydropower plants and has a capitalization of 54.24 billion lei.
