Hidroelectrica reported investments of 90 million lei in the first quarter of 2026, a 72% increase compared to the same period in 2025, but the amount represents only 9% of the total approved budget of over 1 billion lei. The budget includes 202 million lei for hydro projects, 655 million lei for re-technologization, and 165 million lei for photovoltaic projects. The company has faced delays in major hydro projects due to external factors, such as the suspension of environmental agreements and the insolvency of contractors. Projects like AHE Răstolița and AHE Surduc-Siriu have been affected by legal and procedural blockages. In contrast, solar energy projects are advancing more quickly, with work started on photovoltaic parks. In Q1 2026, Hidroelectrica achieved a net profit of 1.307 billion lei, 122% more than in Q1 2025, due to favorable hydrological conditions and increased sales in the wholesale market.
