General Motors (GM) will make an accounting adjustment of 6 billion dollars to reduce investments in electric vehicles, thus becoming the latest major automaker to revise its strategy in this area. The adjustment is the result of declining demand and the policies of the Trump administration, affecting production plans and suppliers. The losses include 4.2 billion dollars from the cancellation of contracts with suppliers who had prepared for increased production. GM emphasized that the adjustment will not affect its supply in the U.S., which includes 12 electric models. Additionally, GM announced a loss of 1.1 billion dollars in the fourth quarter, related to the restructuring of its joint venture in China. Sales of electric vehicles have decreased by 43% in recent quarters, and analysts are revising their forecasts for the future, calling into question GM's strategy of focusing exclusively on electric vehicles.
