The Petrom gas station on Brașov street in Bucharest recorded on March 10 an increase in gasoline prices by 10 bani per liter and diesel by 15 bani per liter, with prices reaching 8.30 lei/liter for gasoline and 8.75 lei/liter for diesel.
These increases are part of a series of price hikes that occurred in March, influenced by the effects of the war in the Middle East, where conflicts have affected energy supplies. In March, gasoline increased by 34 bani per liter, and diesel by 51 bani, after eight consecutive price hikes in February. The price increases are related to a significant increase in international oil quotations, which have risen by nearly 30%, reaching 120 dollars per barrel, due to tensions between the United States, Israel, and Iran.
These conflicts have led to the shutdown of some production capacities and the blockage of the Strait of Hormuz, thus affecting global markets.
At the time of writing, pthe price of oil has dropped to 85 dollars per barrel after Donald Trump stated in an interview that the war against Iran is "almost over".
