On the morning of January 15, standard gasoline at the Petrom gas station on Brașov Street in Bucharest reached 7.67 lei per liter, while diesel was at 7.85 lei per liter, both increasing by 4 bani per liter. This is the fifth change in fuel prices in January, including four price hikes and one decrease. Prices have risen steadily, with similar increases in recent days, after a temporary drop at the beginning of the month. Romania has entered the upper half of the European ranking for fuel prices, with gasoline and diesel being more expensive than in many EU countries, including Austria and Spain. The average price of gasoline has reached almost 1.49 euros per liter, while diesel is at 1.53 euros, both below the weighted European average, but still high compared to other states.
