Florin Manole, the Minister of Labor, stated on Europa FM that the law regarding the pensions of magistrates, adopted by the Bolojan Government and subsequently rejected by the Constitutional Court, would not have affected the pensions already in payment. He claims that the solution for reducing these excessive pensions is the progressive taxation of incomes. Manole emphasized that, although the Court declared the mechanism of super-taxation for special pensions unconstitutional, progressive taxation will also include the pensions of magistrates.

The minister mentioned that the highest magistrate pension in Romania is nearly 70,000 lei gross, considering it inequitable. The average gross pension of a magistrate is 25,000 lei. Manole assured that the rejected law would not have affected the pensions in payment and emphasized the importance of a consensus to avoid financial losses for Romania, considering the deadline of November 28 for the milestone regarding the pensions of magistrates.
