The energy supplier and distributor Electrica has announced that it has started the procedure to obtain the necessary authorizations for the construction of 15 energy storage battery parks, with a total capacity of approximately 1GWh. This initiative is part of the company's strategy for 2030 and aims to capitalize on its land assets.
According to Electrica representatives, these parks will contribute to reducing price volatility and dependence on imports. CEO Alexandru Chirița emphasized the importance of this project in transforming Electrica into a leader of the energy transition, ensuring operational resilience and the ability to respond to fluctuations in the national energy system. The project will facilitate the integration of renewable capacities and will redefine the management of energy security in Romania for the coming decades.
