Dragoș Pîslaru, the interim Minister of Labor, provided details on Thursday about the salary reform, explaining that the available budget of 8 billion lei does not allow for an increase in the entire salary grid. He emphasized the importance of equity among occupational families, mentioning that existing dysfunctions can generate higher costs in the future.

Pîslaru announced that he will call occupational families again to discuss the proposed changes. During a live session on Facebook, he addressed the false information circulating about the reduction of public sector salaries, reaffirming the commitment to ensure salary protection.

He also mentioned that the reform is necessary to avoid financial losses related to the PNRR and to correct the inequities in the system. Pîslaru warned that without a unified legislation, the budget deficit could increase, and austerity measures could become inevitable. He promised to continue discussions with the unions, even though the approval of the new government could influence the process.
