Dominic Fritz, the president of USR, stated that the necessary reforms for the recovery of Romania represent a "war of attrition" and cannot be achieved quickly. He emphasized that the current problems are the result of wrong decisions and false promises made by politicians, highlighting the need for a real reform of the state, which should include the elimination of special pensions and genuine decentralization. Fritz mentioned that, although he would like a rapid change, the economic reality requires immediate measures, such as increasing VAT, to manage the 10% deficit.
He stressed that it is essential not to compromise democracy and to create a state that works for citizens, not for a privileged class. Fritz acknowledged the difficulties in implementing reforms, especially in the context of special pensions, and stated that, although progress is slow, USR continues to fight for these changes.
