The Competition Council of Romania did not find evidence that fuel prices have increased unjustifiably, according to the statements of President Bogdan Chirițoiu. The price increases are lower than in other countries, and Romania, as an oil-producing country, benefits from relatively lower prices.

Chirițoiu emphasized that state interventions in this market must be proportional and limited in time, to avoid long-term distortions.

Additionally, the Government has extended the support scheme for transporters, but the Council has not yet received the project for capping prices at the pump.

In case suspicions of anti-competitive practices arise, the Council will intervene with all available legal tools.

Consumers are encouraged to use the Price Monitor platform to find the best offers.
