In the first six months of 2025, Romania's coal production decreased by 2.9%, while imports fell by 60.7% compared to the previous year.

Coal production in Romania was 902,400 tons of oil equivalent in the first six months of 2025, registering a decrease of 2.9% compared to the same period in 2024. Coal imports were 38,900 toe, significantly down by 60.7%. Estimates show that both production and imports will continue to decline until 2027, according to CNSP forecasts, with an estimated reduction of 11.4% for production and 24.5% for imports.
