All cigarettes in Romania have gone up by 1 leu per pack because of the 10% increase in excise duty.

This price increase is pushing popular brands such as Pall Mall, Kent and Marlboro to 30 lei per pack or more. Romania's cigarette market, estimated at €5 billion, is significant for the state budget, as 80% of the price of a pack is made up of excise duties and taxes.
