The President of the Competition Council, Bogdan Chirițoiu, stated that Romania needs to provide state aid, but with a limited budget, having the largest budget deficit in Europe. He recommended that the Government use financial instruments, such as state guarantees for loans, instead of direct aid.

Chirițoiu emphasized the importance of finding solutions to reduce energy costs for large industrial consumers, considering that energy in Europe is expensive due to the adopted policies.

Although Romania produces a lot of energy, including from renewable sources, market organization remains a challenge. The Competition Council will continue to advise the Government and will use legal measures to ensure fair competitive behavior among firms. These statements were made during the conference "The Evolution of Competition in Key Sectors under the Impact of the Energy Transition and Digitalization."
