According to estimates by CFA Romania analysts, the national currency, the leu, will continue to depreciate, and the euro will exceed the threshold of 5.1 lei in the near future. This forecast has influenced the decrease in the Macroeconomic Confidence Indicator, which fell by 10.2 points in March, reaching 38.2 points. The expectations component decreased by 10.5 points, while the current conditions component fell by 9.5 points.
Additionally, inflation is expected to rise, with the anticipated rate for the next 12 months reaching 7.61%. Approximately 86% of participants in the survey that formed the basis for these CFA predictions foresee a depreciation of the leu in the next 12 months, with an expected average value of 5.1303 lei for one euro in 6 months and 5.1644 lei in 12 months.
