Eugen Rădulescu, the advisor to the governor of the BNR, Mugur Isărescu, has raised an alarm regarding the impact of special pensions on Romanian society. He estimates that over five million Romanians will be forced to work until the age of 70 due to the increased number of special pensioners, which exceeds 200,000. Rădulescu emphasizes that special pensions are approaching 1% of GDP and warns that if the situation is not resolved, there will be a dramatic social divide. He criticizes the privileges granted to special pensioners, including the retirement age, which is considered absurd compared to international standards.
Additionally, Rădulescu draws attention to the rising public debt of Romania, which has exceeded 60% of GDP, thus affecting the economic stability of the country. Meanwhile, the Constitutional Court is facing difficulties in drafting the reasoning for the decision regarding the reform of magistrates' pensions, which delays the promulgation of the law by President Nicușor Dan.
