The National Authority for Consumer Protection (ANPC) has discovered violations at 107 companies in the credit sector, according to a press release. Among the irregularities found are the lack of legal information provided to consumers before the conclusion of the credit and the non-registration of intermediaries in the ANPC database. As a result, 7 fines were imposed totaling 37,000 lei, 120 warnings, and various remedial measures.
ANPC has also issued recommendations for consumers, suggesting the verification of intermediaries in the ANPC register and explaining the differences between legal and illegal intermediaries. When signing the contract, the intermediary must present the range of analyzed products and rates, offering at least three options. Additionally, credit advertising must contain essential information, such as the interest rate, the number and value of installments, the total value of the credit, and the APR.
