The Minister of Finance, Alexandru Nazare, announced that ANAF collected 267.6 billion lei in the first six months of the year, 22.4 billion lei more than in the same period last year. These results confirm the direction of stabilizing public finances, but Nazare warns that budgetary discipline is necessary, considering the evaluation of the S&P rating agency this autumn.

VAT collection was 64.8 billion lei, registering a 25.9% increase compared to the previous year. Although the results are promising, Nazare emphasizes that there are sectors that require improvements. He calls for responsibility in spending public money, highlighting that any budgetary measure must be supported by clear funding sources. The S&P evaluation will analyze not only the figures but also Romania's ability to maintain financial stability.

"In the first 6 months of the year, ANAF collected 267.6 billion lei, compared to 245.2 billion in the same period of 2025. This is an increase of 22.4 billion lei in a single semester. The new collection figures reconfirm the direction of stabilizing Romania's finances. With more pressure on results, clear objectives, and an efficient tax administration, Romania can achieve increasingly ambitious fiscal performances.

A very good result for VAT in the first part of the year: 64.8 billion lei collected, 25.9% more than in the same period of 2025, which means an increase of 13.3 billion lei. At the same time, ANAF refunded companies 11.1 billion lei from VAT," wrote the interim Minister of Finance, Alexandru Nazare, on Facebook on Tuesday evening.
