The President of the American Chamber of Commerce in Romania, Vlad Boeriu, stated that the current fiscal policy drives away investors, calling for the elimination of the minimum turnover tax and other taxes that affect investment appetite. Boeriu emphasized the need for fiscal adjustment to address the budget deficit, as well as the importance of reducing expenditures.
He also mentioned that tax evasion must be combated by using data collected by ANAF to increase revenues and competitiveness. An annual barometer conducted by AmCham shows a deterioration in the perception of the investment climate, with 47% of respondents considering the situation precarious. Boeriu highlighted the lack of a national economic project and proposed collaboration among all actors to identify competitive sectors and attract investments. He also mentioned the importance of joining the OECD in 2026 for long-term benefits.
