In the first two months of 2026, the number of dissolved companies in Romania increased by 38.31%, reaching a figure of 11,066, compared to 8,001 in the same period of 2025, according to data from the National Office of the Trade Register (ONRC). The most dissolutions were recorded in Bucharest, with 2,117 companies, an increase of 45.1% compared to January-February 2025. The counties of Cluj, Ilfov, Constanța, Timiș, and Iași also reported significant increases. In contrast, the fewest dissolutions were recorded in the counties of Mehedinți, Ialomița, Călărași, Covasna, Giurgiu, and Teleorman. The sector with the most dissolutions is wholesale and retail trade, with 2,074 cases, followed by professional, scientific, and technical activities, and construction. In February 2026, 5,663 dissolutions were reported, the most in Bucharest, Cluj, Ilfov, Iași, and Timiș. This trend raises questions about the economic stability and business environment in Romania.
