In 2023, Bulgaria and Romania had the lowest consumer prices in the EU, while Denmark and Ireland had the highest.

Eurostat data show that Bulgaria (60% of the EU average) and Romania (64%) had the lowest price levels for household consumption in 2023. In contrast, Denmark (143%) and Ireland (138%) had the highest prices. Price differences are influenced by the taxation of products such as alcohol and tobacco, where Ireland has the highest prices (205%) and Bulgaria the lowest (69%). Other categories with significant variations include restaurants, hotels and clothing.
