The Ministry of Foreign Affairs (MAE) informs Romanian citizens who are in or intend to travel to the United Kingdom that the British authorities have issued a warning for severe weather phenomena caused by Storm Chandra, which will occur from January 26-27. The affected regions include areas under an orange alert, such as South Devon, Dorset, South Somerset, and South-East Cornwall, and a yellow alert for Cornwall, South-West Wales, and North Devon. Gusts of wind and heavy precipitation are expected, which may cause significant disruptions to infrastructure, power outages, and issues in rail and road transport.
MAE recommends avoiding non-essential travel in the affected areas and monitoring official updates. Romanian citizens can request consular assistance at various phone numbers of the Romanian General Consulate in London, and in case of emergency, they can call the local number 999. Updated weather information can be found on the official website of the British meteorology service.
