A bill from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs provides for the reintroduction of fees for consular services, such as 55 euros for passports and 200 euros for residence visas. The Ministry of Foreign Affairs argues that these fees would cover the actual costs and align with European standards. Approximately 8 million Romanians in the diaspora would be affected, considering that obtaining official documents is already costly. The project is under public debate and could come into effect at the beginning of next year.
