The Ministry of Foreign Affairs (MFA) informed that, in the afternoon of March 13 and at the beginning of the night of March 14, the platforms eviza.mae.ro and econsulat.ro were attacked through a Distributed Denial of Service (DDoS) cyber attack. This type of attack led to the slowdown of the websites' functionality and, at certain moments, to their inaccessibility.
MFA specialists, together with protection equipment, intervened quickly, managing to minimize the impact of the attack. The MFA emphasized that no sensitive information was compromised; however, DDoS attacks can create inconveniences for citizens by blocking access to necessary digital services. These attacks are becoming increasingly frequent globally, and Romania has been targeted repeatedly in recent years. The MFA will continue to collaborate with specialized institutions to ensure the security of its digital systems.
