A 46-year-old Romanian man, Dumitru Eusebiu Daviduță, was arrested in Turin on Sunday on suspicion of fatally stabbing Saloum Fall, a 19-year-old Senegalese man. The attack took place on Friday, October 23, 2026, in Dora Park, and the victim died in hospital from his severe injuries.
Investigators identified the suspect after his phone was found in the victim’s backpack. According to police, Daviduță had pawned his phone to Fall in exchange for drugs, and the two were due to meet over repayment of the debt and the recovery of the device.
The Romanian man admits meeting the young man and says an argument broke out between them, but denies killing him. He claims the victim was holding an object and that he was injured during the altercation. The defense lawyer says Fall allegedly tried to rob him and is requesting a measure less severe than pretrial detention.
A witness said the victim collapsed a few minutes after the confrontation. Police have, for the time being, ruled out the involvement of another person. Prosecutors are seeking to keep the Romanian man in pretrial detention.
