The investigation into the death of a 64-year-old Romanian man, found on August 23 in a parking area near Lake Sylvenstein in Bavaria, is still ongoing. German police are examining the circumstances of the death and are cooperating with the authorities in Romania.
The man was discovered during the night of August 22–23, on federal highway B307 near the town of Lenggries. His identity was later established with the help of the Romanian authorities by comparing fingerprints and photographs from databases. The victim did not have a registered residence in Bavaria.
The forensic examination found no signs of a violent death. However, investigators are trying to determine the exact time and circumstances of the death. In September, police announced that a 59-year-old woman from the Miesbach district was suspected of transporting the body by car for nearly 100 kilometers. The man is believed to have worked as an assistant at a facility in the Ebersberg area, where the woman was the employer.
The case also includes an investigation into the suspected failure to provide assistance. Searches were carried out in the Ebersberg and Miesbach districts at the beginning of September. On October 2, police stated that there were still no concrete results and that investigations were continuing together with prosecutors in Munich and the Romanian authorities.
