The President of Ukraine, Volodymyr Zelensky, stated that Ukraine urgently needs interceptor missiles from the United States, considering the intensification of Russian missile attacks.
In an interview with CNN, Zelensky mentioned that the current stock of interceptor missiles is insufficient, having only 1% of what is needed. Russian attacks have significantly increased, and the capital Kyiv has been severely hit. Zelensky emphasized that with just 5% of the necessary missiles, Ukraine could survive the winter, and with 10%, it could destroy all Russian missiles.
He also discussed the difficulties in obtaining military support, involving confidential negotiations and direct appeals to the White House. Additionally, Zelensky called for greater U.S. involvement in the peace process, emphasizing that Russia will not easily give up its territorial ambitions. He rejected the idea of ceding territory and warned of the risks of escalating the conflict.
"This year we have two and a half times fewer interceptor missiles than we had in 2025. Every night there are attacks, and four or five times a month we face massive attacks... terrible nights. Truly heroic and very resilient people. But they are tired. If the U.S. sells us 5%, we will get through the winter and save lives. If they sell us 10%, we will destroy all of Russia's ballistic missiles. I have 1%" , said Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky in an interview with CNN.
